3 in a row:  Scrapbooking three portrait oriented photos in a row is one of the easiest layouts to put together.  I made the cat embellishment and letters at the bottom with my QuicKutz - a tool that is extremely under-used in my scrapbooking room.  I put the Revolution and the Squeeze on my table along with some QuicKutz alphabets.  I haven't been spending much time in the scrapbooking room lately (I started doing Bikram Yoga), maybe having something "new" from my stash to play with will get me back to scrapping.

Look Mom! / Sketchy Thursdays

 This sketch is based on the Sketchy Thursday's MAY Guest Design Team Challenge.

The Challenge was to get artistic and I'm guessing that was to encourage us to use paint or mists.  I made this layout this morning and didn't want to get too messy and I didn't have a lot of time to wait for paint to dry, so I got artistic with the stitching instead of paint, but the patterened paper I used looked like it already was paint splattered.

Sketchy Thursdays - here's my layout of the week.

Journaling: "Just one sheet!  That's enough!  When you sneeze or dry your hands, you go a little crazy with the paper towels.  Good thing Grandpa Bob was a tree farmer - but please conserve & preserve OK?  Love Mom.  P.S. Grammy calls Paper Towels "Scott Towels" - I think its some sort of family pride thing sine our last name is Scott."

I thought the patterened paper background looked a bit like the embossing on paper towels.  Letter stickers are Sassafrass & Basic Grey.  And there is some machine stitching in red to hold down the black and white ribbons.

How Old Are You Again? Right now? {Scrapbook Layout Inspired by Noell Hymann's Number Layout on the Paperclipping Roundtable}

Since Mac turned 9 he's been saying that he's still 8 and that he's going to be 8 forever.  Maybe it was because being eight was great or maybe it was because we had a bit of a rough time on his ninth birthday.  Maybe he's just being silly.

Slumber Party

Our family has entered the world of the sleepover - it started a few months ago and now - almost weekly - one of our  kids either has someone sleep over or they sleep over at a friend's house.  We get movies from Blockbuster (which we've been told will soon be a thing of the past) and have pizza and popcorn.  And the funniest thing?  My kids go to sleep way earlier than they normally do when they have a friend stay over - seems that my kids are little night owls and their friends' go to sleep much earlier - but for the sleep over effect, my kids like to go to sleep with their friends.  So I'm going to stock the fridge with yummy kid food - the weekend is here!

 

Two Peas In a Bucket + Counterfeit Kit Club Challenge + Paperclipping Roundtable + Lisa Dickinson = Third Bird Layout

On the fifth of April, I made a kit for the Counterfeit Kit Club Challenge "A Little Birdie Told Me" based on the Front Porch Kit Club and I wanted to play with my kit so I looked on the Two Peas in a Bucket Scrapbook Gallery for inspiration and found a layout titled Details that incorporated lots of different patterned papers - perfect for my itch to play with my kit.  I made this layout:

 
The story is all about how we've had three different birds try to become our pet 1. a potty talking parrot; 2. a grey cockatoo or some such exotic bird, and 3. the "Third Bird" a yellow little bird whom Allison named "Cutie Bird" over this past Spring Break. 

So today I was listening to the most recent Paperclipping Scrapbooking Roundtable on my iphone so I couldn't see layouts they were talking about, but when Lisa Dickinson started describing hers it sounded really familiar - I scraplifted this from the Two Peas site, but didn't look to see who made the layout and I think her Two Peas name is different than her actual name, otherwise I probably would have recognized it - I've been a fan of Lisa's since she featured in Simple Scrapbooks.    Love this layout & her style in general.  I'm thinking I might scraplift the rest of the layouts on Paperclipping this week.

Scrapbooking - Just a quick 3 photo layout

 
I think that the 3 portrait photos in a line on a scrapbook page is the easiest type of page to make and possibly the "funnest" because then the rest of the page is just for play:  I edged the whole page with a copic marker, I used the Fiskar's stamp border punch, I did some machine stitching, I even colored some American Crafts letter stickers with a Copic Marker, and assembled some flowers with brads and used fancy ribbon and that patterened paper is actually packaging from the Making Memories Panorama paper pack.   Yesterday was a long day that made me remember how precious life is and making this one was a good way to unwind - that and watching Survivor with my sweetie.

Embellishment:  Barbie cut out on the front of the packaging for a present for my daughter, found this in my memorabilia box.

Inspiration for the Title:  We read Amy Krouse Rosenthal's book "Little Pea" at bedtime very frequently, one of our favorite lines in that book is when Little Pea finally gets to eat spinach and he says "Yum. Yum. Extra Yum."

 

Springtime Allison

It is April 1st and a completely beautiful spring day here, I decided to celebrate springtime by gathering a bunch of pictures of my daugther from several different years but all from the springtime.  I've been re-discovering the joy of the 2 page scrapbook layout.

 
I cut the flower embellishments from patterned paper; other supplies:  American Crafts, Moxxie, Scenic Route, Basic Grey, K&Company, DCWV, & Fancy Pants.
